Climb aboard with Texas Dance Hall Preservation on Saturday, November 14, 2026, departing Austin at noon, for an unforgettable road trip deep into DeWitt County—our May tour sold out in just four days, so don't wait to grab your seat!
Leave the driving behind, pack a small cooler with your favorite food and drinks (no glass), and spend the day exploring three unique community halls – Gruenau Hall, Nordheim Shooting Club and Lindenau Hall and Rifle Club. |
Tour the halls and hear their stories. Documentary filmmakers Erik and Laurie McCowan (Texas Dance Hall Show) and TDHP representatives will share behind-the-scenes lore and preservation stories. Then scuff your boots across the hardwood at each stop. Julie Wilmer from Blue Moon Dance Company will be on hand to offer two-step pointers.
The day culminates with Lindenau’s 125th Anniversary Celebration. Enjoy outdoor activities, onsite BBQ, drinks, and the Drew Oliver Band inside at 6 pm. We’ll be back in Austin by 10 pm. |

Keeping authentic Texas dance halls two-stepping into the future takes real work—and real resources. In our 2026 grant cycle, 10 historic halls requested nearly $88,000 in support. Thanks to our passionate donors and members, Texas Dance Hall Preservation awarded $46,163 in matching grants across five iconic venues.
From dance floor restorations to critical facility overhauls, these awards provide vital seed funding to help local halls protect their heritage and keep the music playing. |
