Texas Dance Halls: Still Swingin’ Premieres Tonight on KLRN
After months of filming and traveling across Texas, KLRN’s new five-part series, Texas Dance Halls: Still Swingin’, is officially hitting the airwaves on KLRN 9.1 — and Texas Dance Hall Preservation was proud to play a small part in helping connect the production team with dance halls and resources in their viewing area.
This new series shines a spotlight on the people, places, and stories that keep Texas dance hall culture alive and well. Each episode features two iconic halls and the communities that make them special.
We’re excited to see these stories shared with a wider audience, and we hope you’ll tune in each week as the series airs on Thursdays at 7:30 p.m., following On The Record with Randy Beamer.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all the dance hall stewards, community members, and storytellers who opened their doors, shared memories, and welcomed the KLRN team with true Texas hospitality. Projects like this matter because they help document and celebrate the living legacy of Texas dance halls for new audiences across the state and beyond.

A Texas Dance Tradition on Film: Location Needed
Southern Methodist University film students are looking for a dance hall for their feature-length historical film set in 1945.
Historical accuracy is especially important as they work to authentically reflect the rich tradition of rural Texas community dances and share that story with new audiences.
They are seeking a location near Waxahachie/North Central Texas that’s available for two nights between May 23 and June 6.
If you or someone you know has a dance hall that may be a fit, please email: whentheazaleasbloomedmovie@gmail.com or visit their website. |
